Busy Baby!

To say that Sarah Claire kind of likes our printer is like saying that peanut butter kind of likes jelly; both comparisons suggest that there is just a casual attraction, when the reality is, there is- in both cases- an inseparable pair.  I'm not exaggerating- she really chooses to spend most of her playtime interacting with the printer.  We always know where to find Sarah Claire; she's standing on her short little legs in front of the printer, talking and squealing in response to the noises she's causing the printer to make.  It is by far her favorite thing to do right now, and Christopher and I just scratch our heads and ask each other, "Why did we waste our money on baby toys?"  All she wants to do is turn the printer on and and off and push every button in sight.  Sarah Claire has managed to do things with our printer that I can't figure out how to do, like print the pictures from my camera's memory card; I think this is just an early sign of her unthinkably high IQ.   Of course I'm proud of her, but I'm a little bit humbled, too... not many people want to admit that they ask their almost-10-month-old to show them how to use the scanner.  I joke- a little, but truthfully, this has made us laugh and made us grateful; an occupied baby means time for cooking, laundry and cleaning.  It's wonderful, really!

Here is a picture of the printer-savvy baby herself (the quality of the picture is not so great!):

There are plenty of other things that are keeping Sarah Claire busy these days; she's giving kisses, babbling non-stop, cruising around furniture, exploring our entire house and eating tons of new types of food.  She is also learning to brush her teeth! Here is a picture of her second experience with a
toothbrush:

It's so much fun to be able to know that she understands a lot of what we are telling her now, and it's unbelievably heart-warming to be able to watch her demonstrate to us that she loves us.  She is an incredibly sweet baby, and we are so blessed to have her in our lives!

I keep wondering what this next little baby will be like, and I guess we will just have to wait 6 more months to find out.  The truth is, after experiencing the unconditional love that I feel towards Sarah Claire, I know that this next baby could be a lot of different things, but one thing is for sure: he or she will be indescribably adored!  I still can't believe that we are about to be a family of four!
